Another absolutely brilliant idea that deserves to succeed and be mimicked everywhere.
In an initiative announced by the NYC mayor, the city will close a 6.9-mile stretch of road from Brooklyn Bridge to 72nd Street, with connections to other public spaces such as Central Park.
OK, it’s only for three Saturdays in August. But it’s a grand start.
The hope appears to be that these car-free Saturdays will win New Yorkers over to more car-free days and car-free areas.
