Perception:
- 72 per cent of parents believe that there are more [cycling] accidents in 2007 than ten years ago.
Reality:
- Serious accidents involving all riders, particularly children, are now in sharp decline, while the number of cyclists has edged up 4%.
- The number of children killed or seriously injured on bikes has dropped by 55 per cent over the last decade.
